Leslie Ford Weber, director of the Johns Hopkins University Montgomery County Campus, has been re-elected to a board of directors executive committee position with the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.

Weber will serve a yearlong term as vice chair of the legislative affairs committee. Joshua Bokee, director of government affairs for Comcast, serves as co-chair. Weber recently completed a one-year term as vice chair of the chamber’s economic development committee.

“One of the most important objectives of a good advocacy program is to educate elected officials and other policymakers about the important issues and challenges of their constituents,” Weber said. “Certainly Hopkins is known for its discovery and innovation, but also for the many ways in which we share information.  I think there is great congruence in these two roles for me.”

Johns Hopkins University is a longtime member of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and collaborates with the Chamber on several economic development, legislative and other initiatives.

The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce “is honored to have the experience and expertise that Leslie brings to her new role. Her leadership on legislative affairs is integral to our success," said Georgette "Gigi" Godwin, chamber president and chief executive.

Weber also is director of campus, government and community affairs in Montgomery County for the university and Suburban Hospital.
