The Johns Hopkins Montgomery County Campus partners with other divisions of the university and local organizations to offer summer programs for K-12 students and college students. Find a program that's right for you.

During this four-week summer program for high school students, participants learn engineering basics such as conducting experiments, solving design challenges, interpreting data and applying technology. Lessons focus on chemical, electrical, mechanical and civil engineering, as well materials science and robotics. Students with an A or B grade earn three Johns Hopkins University credits. The program runs Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. June 30-July 25. Tuition is $2,300.

 

Summer Writing Programs with Writopia Lab

Writopia Lab will be running summer writing programs on campus for students ages 8-18.

  • Creative Writing Workshops: Each week-long workshop enrolls a maximum of six participants and is led by a published, award-winning writer and experienced teacher. The workshops, organized by age group, are peppered with original and fun writing exercises. Students are free to explore their own interests in any genre.  The primary goal for each week is to finish a completed piece for publication on Writopia's online journal, The Parenthetical. Workshops run from June 9 - Aug. 22. Morning and afternoon sessions are available. See the Writopia Lab website for schedule and costs.
  • College Admissions Essay Writing Workshops: Special week-long intensive workshop for high school students who are writing personal essays for scholarships and/or college admissions. Workshops meet 1:30-4:30 p.m. July 21-July 25. Each workshop is led by a published writer and experienced college writing teacher. Additional workshops can be added depending on interest.
