Students Explore The Next Horizon

What do you think of when you hear the phrase “The Next Horizon”? Do you think sunsets and landscapes? Robots and spaceships?

If you’re curious what Montgomery County Public School high school students picture, then stop by the Johns Hopkins Montgomery County Campus before March 23 to see what budding young artists and photographers created when presented with the theme “The Next Horizon.”

This is the sixth year the campus has hosted a juried exhibition of artwork from Montgomery County high school students. More than 150 students submitted mixed media art and photographs, and 71 pieces were selected for display across two gallery spaces: in the 9605 Building Atrium and in the A&R Food for Thought Café.

Eric Beatty, Director of Homewood Arts Program at Johns Hopkins and local artist Fran Abrams served as judges for the canvases. Jay Corey, Director of Video Strategy for Johns Hopkins, and local photographer David Chisham served as photography judges. Artist Sherill Anne Gross was the show’s curator.

The show opened with a reception on February 3, at which the winners were announced.
